History of Basketball Association of Bihar
The Basketball Association of Bihar (BAB), which came into being in 2010 as ad- hock & permanently became in year 2012 after final recognition of BFI, is the only governing and controlling body of basketball in Bihar, responsible for the development and promotion of the sport at all levels. BAB oversees all the state level basketball operations in Bihar. The BAB has been involved in conducting camps, clinics, events, and training sessions at its academies for the development of basketball. The BAB is striving to establish basketball among the top sports in the sub-continent.
The first state Championship for men & women in Bihar was conducted in the year 2010. In 2010, the Bihar Youth team, also known as the ‘’Bihari Fighters’’, became a member of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI).
Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation sponsorship with the BAB was also instrumental in establishing a strength & conditioning coaching program for all State Basketball Teams for the preparation of International & National Championship, including the establishment of a high-class training facility in Patna, and the development of a training book, “Strength & Conditioning: The Complete BAB Program for Training Basketball Players to Run Faster, Jump Higher and Perform Better”, which consists of a scientifically-based programme specifically tailored to basketball players and Bihar.
Currently, the BFI is headed by President Capt. Jai Narayan Prasad Nisad, Former Minister/Govt. of India, Secretary Mr. Sushil Kumar, Associate Secretary of Basketball Federation of Indi and Treasurer Mr. Shashi Kant Pandey, Excutive Member of Basketball Federation of India .
